The 9th arrondissement of Paris is a shopaholic's dream
The Ninth arrondissement is all about Grand Boulevards, exquisite shopping malls, the grand Opera House, wide streets with sidewalks and sometimes even trees. It's a pleasure to be here!
It is probably one of the best places to live in Paris, if not perfect. It is especially good in terms of logistics: from here you can easily and quickly walk to the Louvre, and to everyone's favorite Montmartre! It takes 30 minutes to walk to the Marais, and the metro runs perfectly to the left bank. There are a lot of middle and high class hotels in the area, so there is plenty to choose from.
The main attraction of the neighborhood is the Opera Garnier. Opera Garnier is the one and only, an example of boz-ar architecture. Its interiors will give a head start to any royal palace! That's why you can buy a ticket to this theater without a performance, walk around with a tour, listen to the legend about the ghost of the Opera. But once you're inside, you'll definitely want to attend a performance as well.
Galeries Lafayette is a famous shopping center and the Mecca of all shopaholics. Even if you're not one of the latter, make sure you go to appreciate the interiors, the stained glass dome, the gilded staircases, go up to the top floor, the terrace offers a beautiful and free view of the city.
Not far away on the same boulevard you'll meet the gallery's main competitor or closest relative, the Prentam department store. Incredibly huge retail space and an unfathomable breadth of assortment are all about it.
Also, both of these department stores can provide you with a translation assistant, arrange delivery of your purchases directly to your hotel and tell you how to get tax free on all your purchases.
